If the problem (smoke or fumes coming out the fireplace or stove) occurs ONLY IN WINDY conditions then THIS IS A DOWNDRAUGHT. The anti down draught cowls to use are: A) Static Cowl if your problem is not severe (found here). B) A Spinner Cowl if the your problem is severe (found here).
If the problem (smoke or fumes coming out the fireplace or stove) occurs when there is LITTLE or NO WIND then this is not a downdraught. This is a LACK OF DRAUGHT.
No anti down draught cowl will fix a lack of draught there is only ONE cowl to fix a LACK OF DRAUGHT and that is an ELECTRIC cowl called the SUPER C.
If the Chimney Problem is heat loss, over performance of chimney, excessive fuel consumption or exterior noise in the chimney, then the cowl you need to fix this is the CHIMNEY CONTROL (found here).
If the problem is rain or birds nesting then the cowl you need is the Anti Bird/Anti Rain cowl (found here).

The Pot Hanging Stainless Steel 6” Anti Bird / Anti Rain Chimney Cowl connects to both the chimney pot and flexible stainless steel chimney liner.
It negates the need for a Clamp Plate and separate Chimney Cowl to be used during installation of twin wall flexible liner stainless steel
The use of a Pot Hanging chimney cowl results in a better, stronger and cheaper stove installation with less rain water entering the flue and subsequently the stove.
The Pot Hanging Stainless Steel 6” Anti Bird / Anti Rain Chimney Cowl will stop birds nesting in your chimney – it has a robust cage type stainless steel mesh housing that will prevent this.
It also protects your chimney against rain and moisture penetration

What the Pot Hanging Stainless Steel 6” Anti Bird / Anti Rain Chimney Cowl will not do:
This cowl will not prevent a downdraught in your chimney – the Spinner Anti Down Draught Chimney Cowl or the Static Anti Down Draught Chimney Cowl will prevent a downdraught.
It will not create an up-draught or increase the performance of the chimney.
The Pot Hanging Stainless Steel 6” Anti Bird / Anti Rain Chimney Cowl will not completely prevent severe driving or horizontal moving rain often experienced on the coast or in elevated positions – the Static Anti Down Draught Chimney Cowl will prevent driving rain.

Fitting:
The Pot Hanging Stainless Steel 6” Anti Bird / Anti Rain Chimney Cowl is very easy to fit – only a screw driver is required
The Pot Hanging Stainless Steel 6” Anti Bird / Anti Rain Chimney Cowl will connect to a 6” or 150mm diameter flexible chimney liner and most chimney pots with an internal diameter up to and including 12” or 300mm. Leg length is 175mm meaning it can be fitted to decorative chimney pots with a variety of lips.
The spigot end slides inside the flexible chimney liner and is held in place with the shorter quick release worm drive strap which must be threaded through the 3 loops at the end of the legs that are welded to the spigot.
The flexible chimney liner is pulled down the chimney so that the Pot Hanging Stainless Steel 6” Anti Bird / Anti Rain Chimney Cowl is sitting centred on top of the chimney pot and is held in place with the longer quick release worm drive strap which must be threaded through the 3 loops at the end of the legs which are welded to the body of the chimney cowl.
Once fitted correctly it cannot be disturbed by high winds.
